Wyantenock State Forest Information

forest

Hi all,

As a follow-up to the message below in November, beginning December 13, 2023, this block of forest will now be closed to the public, via the main access road and parking area off Route 341.  Wood will begin to be brought to the parking area to use as a landing/staging area for trucking out.  With machinery traversing back and forth, we will not want people walking on the road system or attempting to park in the parking area, as they will be blocking the activity.   Depending on what the weather does, this may be a long-term situation until the area is reopened again next fall for hunting season approximately one month.

Note that if a hunter would like to park at the pull-off area by the dam of the wildlife pond, about a quarter mile to the east toward 202, and hike into the woods near there, they could probably do so.

Thank you for bearing with us, and let me know if there are any questions.  We certainly apologize for the inconvenience to anyone who enjoys hiking here.  Believe me, if there was another way, we would do it.  Access to this block is simply one way in and out.
